MovingBox 2026.2.0: Put Your Inventory Where Your Belongings Live
Spaces, numbered Boxes, printable contents lists, QR codes, and more for moving and storage.
Today I’m shipping MovingBox 2026.2.0. The central idea is simple: a home inventory should connect the digital record to the real spaces and boxes where everything lives.
Print a List for Every Box
You can now build a hierarchy of Spaces for rooms, closets, and storage areas, then add numbered Boxes inside them. Assign items to a Box and MovingBox can create a printable contents list with the Box’s name, number, location path, items, recorded values, and a QR code.
Attach that list to the Box. During a move or while something is in storage, you can identify the Box and see what is inside without opening it. When you want the live digital inventory, scan the QR code in MovingBox—or with the system Camera app.
This is deliberately a contents sheet for one Box, not a complete inventory or insurance-report PDF.
Track Where Items Go
Not every item stays in its usual location. Version 2026.2.0 adds clearer item history: connect People & Businesses to items that were lent, sold, donated, or gifted; set a due date for a loan; and assign an heir. Lent items have a dedicated view, while sold, donated, gifted, and discarded items move to the Archive.
MovingBox in Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight
Common tasks can now start where you already are. App Shortcuts let you add from the camera or a photo, find and open items, scan a Box QR code, show all inventory, and export an archive. Spotlight can also surface inventory items, with settings that control what system features can see.
Values in Their Native Currency
Prices and replacement-cost estimates keep their own currency code. If an inventory contains more than one currency, MovingBox shows separate totals rather than adding unlike values together. Manually entered values are protected from being silently overwritten during AI re-analysis.
What Else Changed
- Attachment documents sync through iCloud.
- Home Settings groups homes by shared and private households.
- Eligible Pro trials can receive a reminder two calendar days before conversion.
- Item capture, archive export, migrations, multi-item analysis, and iCloud syncing received additional refinement.
